During Upward Travel

1. During upward travel the motor and pump run but the car does not start

The shut-off valve is closed

Open the valve (operating with the valve closed causes the pressure to rise sharply).

The car is caught on the guide rails or elsewhere

Check and eliminate the problem.

The cylinder rod is jammed or out of the vertical tolerance (3mm)

Check and eliminate the problem.

The motor rotates in reverse

Swap the motor phases or the primary-side phases (R, S, T) (see the motor wiring diagram (Korean)) (reverse rotation of the pump causes a loud noise)

The motor is running on a single phase

Check and fix the wire connections in the control box, terminal box, etc. (it rotates briefly but has no power, and may burn out).

The motor is wired incorrectly

Refer to the motor wiring diagram (Korean). It is inside the terminal block cover (not interchangeable).

The unit piping is incorrect

Check especially the piping lines of the pump and valve.

The coupling shaft between the motor and pump is broken

Check and take action.

No power is supplied to coil A or the voltage is low

Check the voltage and distinguish DC or AC (Donam uses DC 110V).

Foreign matter is caught in coil A or the coil is not tightened enough

Remove foreign matter, clean and tighten sufficiently (the valve is not closing fully).

Adjuster #1 is open too far

Turn it clockwise while watching for changes (the adjuster is sensitive).

Adjuster #2 is closed

Turn it counterclockwise little by little (the adjuster is sensitive).

The relief adjuster pressure is set too low

Close the shut-off valve and turn it clockwise little by little until the specified value is reached. However, do not exceed 70kg/cm² (after adjustment, the bolt must be tightened to lock it).

2. The start is delayed

Adjuster #1 is open too far

Turn it clockwise while watching for changes.

Adjuster #2 is closed too far

Turn it counterclockwise while watching for changes.

3. The start is too fast and the shock is severe

Adjuster #1 is closed too far

Turn it counterclockwise while watching for changes.

Adjuster #2 is open too far

Turn it clockwise while watching for changes.

4. No high speed after starting; keeps running at low speed

The motor capacity is too small or it is running on a single phase

Check the motor capacity, and check and fix the terminal block, magnetic switch and other parts.

No power is supplied to coil B or the voltage is low

Check the voltage and whether it is AC or DC

There is foreign matter in coil B

Disassemble and clean coil B (be careful not to lose parts).

The friction pressure is high because the cylinder or car is jammed

Check mainly the car or guide rails. Check the surface of the cylinder rod and the condition of the packing (replenish lubricant, etc.).

5. Abrupt slowdown with severe shock when decelerating

Adjuster #3 is open too far

Turn adjuster #3 clockwise (try adjusting adjusters #3 and #4 together).

Adjuster #4 is closed too far

Turn adjuster #4 counterclockwise (try adjusting adjusters #3 and #4 together).

Adjuster #2 is closed too far

Turn adjuster #2 counterclockwise slightly.

No power is supplied to coil A or the voltage is low

Check the supply voltage and whether it is AC or DC.

6. Keeps running at high speed without slowing down

Power is supplied to coil B and it remains magnetized

Check coil B for a power short circuit.

Adjuster #3 is closed too far

Turn adjuster #3 counterclockwise little by little.

Adjuster #2 is open too far

Turn adjuster #2 clockwise little by little.

Adjuster #4 is open too far

Turn adjuster #4 clockwise little by little.

Adjuster #1 is closed too far

Turn adjuster #1 counterclockwise little by little.

The O-ring on part "U" of adjuster #1 (bypass) has come off and is jammed

Disassemble the valve and replace the O-ring.

7. The car stops a certain distance short of the landing floor and goes no higher

Coil A and coil B are swapped

Swap coil A and coil B.

The cylinder is too short

Check the stroke and the cylinder length.

The cylinder is installed incorrectly

Adjust the cylinder height.

The landing limit switch is positioned incorrectly

Correct the limit switch position.

The oil is insufficient

Replenish the oil (if there is a leak, fix it first).

8. The slowdown speed is too slow

Adjuster #4 is closed too far

Turn adjuster #4 counterclockwise.

Adjuster #3 is open too far

Turn adjuster #3 clockwise slightly.

9. Severe shock when landing

The slowdown speed is too fast

Turn adjuster #4 clockwise.

Adjuster #5 is open

Turn adjuster #5 clockwise.

The slowdown zone is too short

The slowdown zone must be adjusted. When the car speed is 0.5m/sec (30m/min), a slowdown zone of 50cm is ideal.

Normally the motor should keep running for 0.5 ~ 1 second after coil A is de-magnetized. Adjuster #5 can be adjusted in this state.

The moment the cylinder rod is fully extended coincides with the moment the car stops

Check the cylinder length and the installation height.

Adjust the spacing of the limit switch or guide plate.

10. The car stops off the landing position

The landing limit switch has moved further up

Correct the limit switch position.

The slowdown speed is fast

Turn adjuster #4 clockwise.

Adjuster #5 is closed too far

Turn adjuster #5 counterclockwise.

11. Other possible symptoms, causes and remedies

The car travels irregularly or pulsates

Completely remove the air inside the cylinder.

Check the cylinder rod surface for bending (open the air valve and let oil flow out, feel it by hand, check with a plumb bob).

The car vibrates or is very noisy

Check the cylinder centre position.

Check the guide rail surface and apply lubricant.

If the oil is insufficient, replenish it (open the air valve and let oil flow out, feel it by hand, check with a plumb bob).

The car cannot climb or barely climbs when slowing down from travel (climbs while shaking)

The relief set pressure may be set lower than the specified value. (Open the air valve and let oil flow out, feel it by hand, check with a plumb bob)
